Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To take, pack and deliver your order, and to handle returns and refunds. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To run your account, if you have one. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To answer your questions. This is our legitimate interest in running the business and helping customers.
- To send marketing emails, where you have asked us to. This is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. Our marketing emails contain a small tracking image and tracked links, so we can see whether you opened each email, which links you clicked and whether you then placed an order. We use this to measure and improve our emails and to decide which emails to send you. Agreeing to marketing emails includes this tracking, and unsubscribing stops it.
- To protect our forms from automated abuse. This is our legitimate interest in keeping the site working.
- To meet our legal obligations, including keeping records for tax purposes.
Who we share it with
- Shopify, our shop platform, which hosts this website and processes orders on our behalf.
- Our payment provider, which processes your payment.
- Klarna, only if you choose to pay with Klarna at checkout. Klarna receives your contact and order details so it can decide whether to offer you its payment options, which can include identity and credit checks, and to run your payment. Klarna is a separate data controller and uses your details under its own privacy notice, available on klarna.com.
- WhatsApp (Meta), only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp. Your phone number and messages pass through WhatsApp, which handles them under its own privacy policy.
- The courier that delivers your order, which receives your name, address and contact details so it can deliver.
- hCaptcha (Intuition Machines, Inc.), which checks that our contact and sign-up forms are being used by a person and not a program. It receives technical information about your device when you submit a form.
Each of these receives only what it needs for its part. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it so that other companies can advertise to you.
Where your information is held
Our providers may store or process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
- Order records: six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because tax law requires it.
- Account details: for as long as your account is open.
- Enquiries: up to two years.
- Marketing consents: until you withdraw them.
Cookies
Two cookies are needed for the site to work and are set as soon as you arrive:
- _shopify_essential — keeps your basket and your session working. Lasts about a year.
- localization — remembers your country and currency. Lasts about two weeks.
If you accept them in the cookie banner, Shopify also sets analytics cookies (_shopify_y, _shopify_s, _y, _s) that help us understand how the site is used, for example which pages people visit. They last from about half an hour to a year. We do not use advertising cookies.
You can accept or decline the non-essential cookies using the banner, and change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these, email info@aluramicroneedling.com. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
